CaterCost is a recipe costing and event pricing tool built for UK micro-caterers — private chefs, supper club operators, market stall food vendors, and small independent event caterers.

Who it's for

If you run a 1-5 person catering operation, juggle multiple events per week, and currently price your menus in spreadsheets, CaterCost is designed for you. The tool handles recipe scaling, per-head cost calculation, margin analysis, and Natasha's Law allergen tracking — the exact workflow that breaks when you scale beyond 2-3 simultaneous events.

Why we built this

We noticed that professional catering software costs £129+/month, while most UK micro-caterers earn under £30K/year. That gap should not exist.

The free calculators from Brakes, Unilever, and Lightspeed handle one recipe at a time. Useful for restaurants, but useless for a caterer quoting a 3-course menu for 40 guests with allergen requirements across every dish. And the enterprise tools — Jelly, CaterSOFT, Event Boss — are built for multi-site restaurant chains, not a sole trader working from a home kitchen.

CaterCost sits in the middle. Professional costing and compliance tools, priced for the caterer who actually needs them.
